New Research Scientist Joins the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute

February 8, 2010
Moncton, NB - The Atlantic Cancer Research Institute (ACRI) has recently recruited Dr. Anirban Ghosh, a research scientist whose focus is on finding abnormal molecular events happening in patients and examining how these events contribute to cancer progression, relapse and resistance to treatment. Dr. Ghosh holds a Doctorate degree in Molecular Parasitology and vaccine research from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India and has completed postdoctoral studies at the University of Kentucky and McGill University. Before joining the Atlantic Cancer Research Institute, he was a Senior Research Associate at the Cross Cancer Institute at the University of Alberta. Dr. Rodney Ouellette, CEO and Director of Discovery at ACRI is pleased to welcome Dr. Anirban Ghosh to the Institute's scientific team. "Dr. Ghosh brings an expertise in a wide range of cutting edge biological technologies. His knowledge and previous experience will support our current research, especially in the area of clinical translational research." ACRI was established in 1998 as a private, not-for-profit organization. Located at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Regional Hospital in Moncton, with state-of-the-art facilities, ACRI has become a centre of excellence in cancer research. The research team of approximately 35 people is working to discover the genetic origins of cancer, develop new diagnostic tools and therapies to improve the survival rates of those affected by cancer and ultimately, to find ways to beat the disease.
