Cooke Aquaculture Growing in Nova Scotia
May 1, 2011: Cooke Aquaculture is moving their smolt from one area of Shelburne to another to accommodate the local community, port authority and the local Shelburne Yacht Club. The move will also improve the company's navigation, positioning the young salmon directly in front of their own facility.

ACOA's Atlantic Innovation Fund Proposal Deadlines
April 18, 2011: The deadline for submission of letters of intent and project proposals for the AIF's next funding round in 2012 is May 4th, 2011. Those eligible include: private sector businesses, universities, colleges and other research organizations. Complete project proposals are due by August 17, 2011.

Aerial Application Technology and Biopesticides Make News in New Brunswick
April 7, 2011: New Brunswick's Forest Protection Limited (FPL) is working on an $8 Million dollar smarter aerial application technology and biopesticides project using a computerized model for their aircraft combined with Sylvar Technologies' natural insecticide.

NB Researcher New Member of the Science and Innovation Advisory Committee of Bioenterprise Corporation
April 1, 2011: New Brunswick's own Dr. Thierry Chopin, Professor at UNBSJ's Department of Biology has accepted the offer to become a member of the Science and Innovation Advisory Committee (SIAC) of Bioenterprise Corporation. Bioenterprise Corporation is based in Ontario, but is becoming a player on the national scene in all bioscience related affairs.

Atlantic Dairy Forage Institute to Field-Test Greenhouse Gas Calculator
March 17, 2011: The federal government has announced a $950,000 investment in the New Canaan, N.B.-based Atlantic Dairy and Forage Institute (ADFI) to support a dairy greenhouse gas pilot project involving 100 dairy farms in New Brunswick and Alberta.

ACOA Invests $61 Million in Atlantic Innovation Funds Around Region; Significant Investments in the Biosciences Sector
March 14, 2011: The federal government announced investments of $61 Million being invested via the Atlantic Innovation Fund (AIF). The seven recipients selected for AIF funding in New Brunswick include: Fredericton's Q1 Labs Inc., Inversa System Ltd., Accreon Inc., the University of New Brunswick, l'Université de Moncton, J.D. Irving Ltd. and the Huntsman Marine Science Centre.

Lab Equipment Donations Requested
February 2, 2011: Ridgeview Middle School, located in Oromocto New Brunswick, is seeking donations of unused equipment to outfit a classroom science lab in their school.
